MILE Objectives • Impact • To promote the MILE program to 99% of the SOAR participates. • To make sure 99% of the SOAR participates are familiar with the MILE program. • To administer the MILE pre-evaluation to 99% of the SOAR participates. • To use QEP representatives to educate 95% of the UTM faculty and Staff on the MILE program. • To persuade all of UTM administration to implement the MILE program into SOAR. • Output • To prepare and distribute MILE publications by 100% • To schedule QEP representatives to meet with faculty and staff during at least one staff meeting during the year. • To ensure by Fall 2014 that 95% of incoming freshman will have completed the MILE pre-evaluation. • To administer a hold on student accounts to take the MILE Evaluation

  14. Actions and Special Events Programming 1. Organize the QEP Representatives to meet with UTM staff and faculty during departmental monthly staff meetings to explain the MILE program. 2. Purchase of advertising in local media, including The Pacer and WUTM 90.3, and other media outlets as needed. 3. Meetings with the Office of Admissions to organize the MILE program’s presentation at SOAR and Freshman FYI. 4. Meetings with the Office of Academic Records to place a BANNER hold on all graduating seniors who have not taken the post MILE.

Programming • Pre-Evaluation • Will be given at SOAR • If not taken at SOAR, a hold will be placed on Student’s Banner account • The evaluation will be designed to gauge the Freshman’s ability to locate, retrieve, evaluate, and use information. • Post-Evaluation • Will be paired with Senior’s Exit Exam, which student’s must complete prior to graduation • The evaluation will be designed to gauge the Senior’s ability to locate, retrieve, evaluate, and use information. • The post-evaluation will also be used to evaluate UTM’s success in ensuring that students are information literate.

  17. Programming ATTENTION Freshman Don’t forget to take your MILE exam!! MILE, Mandatory Information Literacy Evaluation, is the program chosen to make sure students can locate, identify and retrieve the needed information effectively. MILE will be presented to incoming students at SOAR. You can find the link to the exam on banner. “A mile starts with a single step!”

  23. Results -After implementation of the MILE program, an evaluation will be given to students to determine familiarity with the program. -The survey will ask questions such as -“Have you ever heard of the MILE Program?” -“What materials have you seen around campus that are promoting MILE?”
