Enhancing Dental Care Access for People with Developmental Disabilities
Dental care remains the most frequently unmet healthcare need for individuals with developmental disabilities. Factors such as geography, residential status, socioeconomic status, and the attitudes of dental professionals contribute to this challenge. This initiative involves a two-step approach of surveys and focus groups targeting general and pediatric dentists and hygienists. The goal is to examine barriers to treating patients with disabilities and gather insights to improve service delivery. Continued promotion and analysis will guide actions for a more accessible oral health workforce.
