  4. Warm up “War is our only recourse. There is no other remedy. We must defend our rights, ourselves, and our country by force of arms.” Stephen F. Austin • What kind of source is this? How do you know? Justify your answer. • Do you agree or disagree with Austin’s quote? • What is significant about Austin speaking these words instead of another colonist?

  5. Battles Research Rotate through the centers to find out about each battle. Use the information on the readings, videos, and/or power points to help you understand each battle of the Texas Revolution.

  7. Reciprocal Teaching Activity • You and your partner are going to read about the Battle of the Alamo. As you read, you need to highlight important facts about the battle. • After reading, write down your summary and the significance of the battle, and create 2 questions for your partner to answer about the battle. • Compare your summaries and ask your partner the 2 questions that you created over the event • Then collectively predict what you think will happen next in the Texas Revolution.
