  2. HOW DID THE BLUES START? The Blues was originated from Africa and was slowly distributed around America because of Afro Americans. As their lives were slowly changing, The Blues played an important part of their lives. The reason why the Blues were played as an important part of theirs is because they were forced away from their homes and taken to an environment they wasn’t used to. This meant that the slaves wanted to keep their tradition so that it wouldn‘t fade away and that white people wouldn’t fully take control of them. The most popular instruments are the drums and they also had songs that was useful for healing ill people and lullabies for babies. The most important part of the blues for the slaves was that when they were singing their music it expressed how they felt.

  3. WHERE DID CALL AND RESPONSE COME FROM? Call and response came from the Africans. They used the call and response by the singer singing and the call and response would be the singer singing and that would be the call and the response is the player, playing his instrument. HOW DID THE BLUES MUSIC DEVELOP? Later on in life, the blues was popular in America because of the Afro Americans. Country blue developed in the areas of Mississippi (Delta). Robert Johnson (One of the blue singers) was a singer and a guitarist. The reason people were inspired by his music is because of the way music was delivered. Bessie Smith, another singer was another one of those good singers. The version that she had mad of “ St Louis Blues” was delivered powerfully. Muddy waters was another successful man and proudly produced 9 records and Eric Clapton spread the blues music by varied traditions.

  4. FREEDOM When the slaves were free in 1865 it was harder for them. The reason it was harder for them is because they didn’t have many rights or enough money to look after themselves so lots of them lived homeless. It was also difficult for them to find churches, and get education for their children because they were still known as the black slaves.
