  3. Jack and Jill Smith have been married their whole life. Now they’re getting old and beginning to experience ageism, according to their grandchildren. They thought their grandchildren were just being naïve until, Jack brought Jill to the doctor one morning for a check up; only to find out that Jill was diagnosed with Alzheimer's. Jack and their family had noticed an increase in her memory loss for awhile, but they thought it was just senile dementia. Although, the Smith family was sad to hear about their grandmothers diagnosis; they understand that this is just one of the many things that come with decremental model of aging. Jack and the rest of the Smith family will have to learn how to deal with their grandmothers sickness in a supportive way. The Smith family might become hurt at times, but it is important to learn how to address the situation when Jill forgets someone or something. Jill will have to go through multiple evaluations that will help her adjust to her disease and old age. Once Jill’s sickness gets too much for the family to handle, she will be put in an Alzheimer's home with trained professionals. These trained professionals will help Jill cope with the symptoms of Alzheimer's.

  4. Vocabulary Ageism- is stereotyping and discriminating against individuals or groups on the basis of their age. Senile Dementia- a term that used to be used when it was thought that memory loss and confusion was a normal part of ageing, rather than being caused by specific diseases like Alzheimer's. Alzheimer’s- a disease that causes dementia and memory loss symptoms. Decremental model of aging- is the idea that progressive physical and mental decline are inevitable with age.
