  2. Introduction (1 minute) • Smile, greet the judges, and relax. • Hook audience with attention grabber relevant to topic • Introduce topic of paper and product • Explain reason for topic choice • Include the actual thesis.

  3. Body: Explain three to five major points from the research paper (2 minutes) • Point 1 • Point 2 • Point 3 • Point 4 • Point 5 Transition: Explain relationship of paper to product (30 seconds)

  4. Explain the product (2 minutes) • Visual images of product and process add to this part! • What product was • How you completed product • How it was a learning stretch • How you overcame difficulties in creating product

  5. Self-Growth: What you learned about self during process (2 minutes) • Independent learning • Time management • Organization • Problem solving • Use of resources • Communication skills • Presentation challenges • Ability to help or work with others • Development of creativity and other skills • Cultivation of interests and future plans ADDRESS THE BULLETS THAT APPLY TO YOUR PROCESS!

  6. Conclusion (30 seconds) • Restate topic • Leave audience thinking OR ready to take action.

Presentation Component Rubric • Review the descriptions of the EXEMPLARY DESCRIPTORS on the slides that follow to determine the criteria used to judge the Graduation Project research paper. • If a student receives DEVELOPING/EMERGING or RESUBMISSION NECESSARY in any category or FAILS TO MEET THE MINIMUM TIME REQUIREMENT OF 8 MINUTES, he or she must present again.

  13. Classroom “Run Through” • Print “handout” from PowerPoint • Cut slides into individual strips • Tape/glue to note cards with “script” • Pace time according to slides

Practice Presentations • Consider adding “Animations” for advancing clides • Practice using Mimio and wand OR “clicker” and projector • Meet with Mr. Stephen Taylor with technology concerns • Print “official” forms for two required presentations • Schedule the practice presentations in advance
