Biochemical Genetic Counselor Opportunity The Department of Human Genetics/Division of Medical Genetics Emory Genetics Laboratory Immediate opening for a genetic counselor to fill a full-time position in our diagnostic genetics laboratories. Biochemical Genetics Genetic Counselor Position Exciting opportunity to join our growing Metabolic Genetics Program. We are seeking a counselor to support our expanding biochemical genetics laboratory. This position will include direct patient care; approximately 15% of this position will be dedicated to staffing the metabolic genetics clinic. Emory’s biochemical genetics laboratory is a leader in newborn screening follow-up, lysosomal storage disease testing, galactosemia diagnostics and has initiated an aggressive test development campaign. The genetic counselor will have primary responsibilities working with healthcare providers and genetic counselors as well as in result reporting, client relations, and marketing. This position will also lead the consumer advocacy and education efforts of the CETT initiative to bring comprehensive testing for the congenital disorders of glycosylation into the clinical realm. Qualifications: Qualified candidates must have a master’s degree in genetic counseling from an accredited training program. Must be board eligible or certified as a Genetic Counselor by the American Board of Genetic Counseling. Must have a strong interest and/or experience in biochemical genetics.
