  2. Project description • Submission date: September 2005. • Accepted: December 2005 • Title of the Project: Education of patients, families and society and promoting awarness of pediatric oncolgy care and support in Egypt. • Duration: 1 year (may be extended for a 2nd year).

  3. Objectives • Educate patients, parents & society at large. • Raise awarness of patients and their familiers. • Remove stigmata associated with childhood cancer.

  4. Target population • Sick children with cancer. • Parents and siblings of sick children. • Health care professionals. • Society at large.

  5. Plan of Action • Patients and their familiers. • Medical Milieu. • Society at large.

  6. Plan of Action • Patients and their familiers: • Videotapes. • Personal interaction. • Psychological support.

  9. Monitoring and Evaluation • Indirect: • Number of patients/mothers seeing the tapes. • Follow up teams. • Feed back and monitoring behavioral changes. • Direct: Pre and Post testing.

  11. Sustainability • Other cancer centers in the country. • Duplicate in the region.

  12. Rules and regulations • June 2006; project has not commenced = reimbursement of the funds. • December 2006; objectives acheived = 2nd year allocation. • Monitoring member from the UICC (mentor).

  13. Advantages/benifits • Being audited = quality control of services. • Team approach for; physiciens, pscychologists, data manager & media . • Gain the respect of international organisations. • Benifits for the patients, families, health-care team.
