Senior Failures If a REQUIRED first semester course is failed, his/her options are: • Purchase an online course ($160-235) to recover lost credit and report to the media center after school (Mon – Thurs). • NOT walk with the class at the ceremony and take up to two semester courses in summer school to finish in July. • Return here (for some) or attend Adult Education next year.

  4. Senior Items • Applications STILL not complete? (next slide has more info) • Turn in baby picture to Mr. Wienke ASAP • Turn in Senior picture by February 1st (or let him know you need one taken and he will help arrange for it here) • Announcements were ordered in December (goes through Mrs. Milligan) • Cap/Gowns were ordered today. See Mrs. Milligan if you missed it (Cap/gown/tassel)

Financial Aid Information • Overview of FAFSA through the SAR Report (hand outs) • Parent must fill out for student to be eligible for any financial aid. • You can estimate if need be by using last years return. Meet the deadline of March 1st! • FAFSAOTW Worksheet • TIP – State Funded Program • Bay Financial Aid Night (January 12th) • College Goal Sunday (February 12th) • Loans/Grants (free money)/Scholarships

Engineering or Pulp/Paper 2) Verso Pulp and Paper Associates -Two year/Full ride/summer employment • Tour dates: please call Verso’s front desk (906)779-3200 to sign up. • Wednesday, January 11, 1 PM – 3 PM • Saturday, January 14, 9 AM – 11 AM

  10. KHS Universal Scholarship Application Can be accessed by entering in the following address: www.kingsford.org/khsWeb/counseling_office/scholarships.php or by going to the KHS Home page and clicking the 'Scholarships' link.

  11. On the Scholarships page, click the 'Universal Scholarship Application' link

  12. The following page appears: Step 1 will have you click the Universal Scholarship Application link which will open up the Universal Scholarship Application PDF document. This page will emphasize 3 Easy Steps to completing the Scholarship Application.

  13. The Universal Scholarship Application PDF: Print out the document and fill it in.NOTE: You CAN enter data into this PDF to print, but it cannot be saved.

  14. Step 2: NOTE: The directions for filling in the checklist are on the web page above. Clicking the link above will open the login page in a new window allowing you to read the directions while you fill in the form. Step 2 will have you click the Universal Scholarship Checklist link which will open up the checklist for the Universal Scholarship.

The following Login page appears: As explained on the login page above, the User ID is the student’s login name they use at KHS to login to the computers As explained on the login page above, the Password is a combination of the student’s last name followed by their student id number found on their id card

  16. Once you are logged in, the following page appears: The student’s name will appear at the top of the page to indicate who is logged in. On the left side of the checklist, choose the scholarships you are applying for.

  17. Submitting your choices: When all of the desired scholarships are selected, click the Submit Results button

  18. The following conformation page appears after you submit your results: NOTE: If you need to log back into the Universal Scholarship Checklist to make modifications, all of your original data will be retained so all you will need to do is add or remove scholarship selections. Make sure to reprint, sign, and date and return to the counseling center to update your records. Depending on your browser, print your results for a copy that can be signed, dated, and turned into the counseling office.

Required Attachments: Transcript printed from Parchment One Letter of Recommendation from a Teacher One Letter of Recommendation from an individual outside of the school environment (not a relative) Essay/Statement of Goals (tell your story…..let the scholarship committees know who you are and what you hope to accomplish in the future)

  20. Application Deadline:Friday, March 30, 2012 Late applications will not be accepted for any reason. You have 12 weeks to complete your application packet…don’t wait until the last minute!
