  3. What is Naviance? Naviance is... a program provided by our school district. It is a management system for all students to create, organize and save many types of documents and job or university applications, along with seeing posted notices about updated university and career news. They can explore their personality type, career interests, and post-high school educational opportunities including colleges and trade or technical schools.

  4. BENEFITS: • Student and parent access to important student data, such as GPA, SAT scores, etc. • *Please make sure the school has an ACCURATE email address for mass communications. • ALL COMMON APPLICATIONS completed through Naviance • ALL LETTERS OF RECOMMENDATION sent through Naviance • Transcript requests

  5. Go to the University City High School website www.sandi.net/universitycity and scroll down the left side of the main page. Sign in! Click on “NavianceLog in”

  6. Family Connections This is what you will see when the Naviance link is opened: email Students’ “email” is actually their school ID number. The password will be given to them is their netbooks username and password if they have one. If not, they will need to see our school site computer go-to guy, Javier Gonzalez in the computer lab, Room 229.

  7. How to apply to college This is the first site you see after logging in. First you need to click on the “about me” tab. Check your email when you see this Check out any new messages for you Here

Private Colleges: • Require letters of recommendation • The Common Application is used by over 500 private colleges (Cornell, Stanford, USD, Yale-etc.) www.commonapp.org • If the private school does not use the Common Applicationmeet with your counselor • Application fees vary from institution • the standard fee range is $50 - 70

  15. Recommendation Requests • Read Instructions and Criteria carefully for each application • Provide Information - Brag Packets • -Located on the UCHS website under “Counselor’s Corner” • Allow at least three school weeks (Deadline is Monday, December 2nd , 2013)

  16. Transcripts • All transcripts for all universities/colleges will be sent through Naviance. • Students please check your Naviance account before you visit the registrar. Any changes made after submission must be done in person. • You MUST tell the registrar when you want transcripts submitted! • Make sure your list of colleges in Naviance is accurate!!! If students don’t update, we won’t know where to send the transcripts and the applications could be in jeopardy. • Transcript requests are due NOVEMBER 21ST !

  18. The Benefits of this Option? • Cost • A great place for students who have not met UC/CSU freshmen admission requirements • No SAT or ACT • No letters of recommendation or essay required

  19. Transfer Minimum GPA to apply to a UC school is a 3.5 for California residents. Minimum GPA to apply to a CSU school is a 3.0 for California residents. 1st time Freshman The average GPA of a student entering UCSD as a freshman is a 4.00 The average GPA of a student entering SDSU as a freshman is a 3.78 Transfer vs. Freshman Applicant

Transfer Programs • Students complete the courses required for lower division major preparation and general education at the CCC • Applicants from CCC’s are given priority in the UC and CSU’s transfer student admissions • Seven campuses offer Transfer Admission Guarantee (TAG) programs • Davis, Irvine, Merced, Riverside, San Diego, Santa Barbara, & Santa Cruz

  47. NCAA ELIGIBILITY • Sign up during your Junior Year. • Work hard to get the best grades possible. • Take classes that match your high school’s List of NCAA Courses. The NCAA Eligibility Center will only use approved courses to certify your initial eligibility. Access the NCAA website www.eligibilitycenter.organd click on the “Resources” link at the top of the screen.
