Evaluation of GOES-10 Retrieved Land Surface Temperature Errors Compared to Observed Data at SURFRAD Stations

This study assesses the errors (BIAS±RMSE) of GOES-10 retrieved Land Surface Temperature (LSTg) against observed LSTs at six SURFRAD stations over three years (2001, 2004, 2005) using Algorithm #6 by Yu et al. Similar coefficients are applied for LST retrieval under different conditions: Day Dry, Day Wet, Night Dry, and Night Wet. The findings are detailed in Konstantin Vinnikov's LAND TEAM report from April 26, 2011.

  1. ERRORS (BIAS±RMSE ) of GOES-10 RETRIEVED LSTg COMPARED TO LSTs OBSERVED AT SIX SURFRAD STATIONS DURING THREE YEARS: 2001, 2004, 2005. Algorithm #6 [Yu et al., 2009] . The same, Day Dry, set of coefficients is used for LST retrieval at all conditions.
