  2. CLIMATE CHANGE RISKS • Extreme high rainfall events • Drought • High sea levels • Damaging winds • Extreme high air temperatures

  3. CBA FOCUS • The focus of the CBA project will be to target ‘village communities’ whose climate change risks include damage to homes and properties, threatened water supply and quality, damage to subsistence and commercial, coastal erosion, flooding and degradation of ecosystems.

Avao, Saleia & Vaipouli Villages Deepen Wetland channel Construct rock wall to reduce flooding of houses from the wetland CBA PROJECT PORTFOLIOSAVAO/VAIPOULI/SALEIA VILLAGE PROJECT: SAVAII ISLANDS ‘Reduce the vulnerability of communities and coastal ecosystems in Avao/Vaipouli and Salei’a villages to climate change’

  5. LELEPA VILLAGE PROJECT – Savaii Island ‘To reduce the vulnerability of the Lelepa Village community and the ecosystems on which they rely to climate change in climate variability & reducing the impacts of climate change ‘

  6. Gagaemauga 3 District Savaii Island: •Saleia, Vaipouli, Avao, Satoalepai, Fagamalo, Safai, Lelepa •Fasitootai village project •Vaovai : pilot program CBA PROJECTS: PIPELINE Matafaa Village Concept : ‘Clearing and developing the village spring to its original natural environment’

  7. CBA COMMUNITY PARTICIPATION & VOLUNTEERISM • In Samoa : • the family and • the feeling of belonging, Is integral part of the Samoan way of life or (faaSamoa) and communities are tightly knit. CBA community participation: • such as women’s committees, • youth groups, • churches, • village council of chiefs, • farmers association and etc, these represents just about every facet of Samoan society.
