  1. Deforestation By: Damon Anderson

  2. Deforestation in the U.S When did the use of woodwork start to increase in the U.S which caused major deforestation? Nearly all of the deforestation started before 1910. Before the settlers arrived there was more than 4 million square kilometers now there is 3 million kilometers left.

  3. Long Term Effects • If humans keep destroying the rain forests at the same pace then the rain forest will be gone in 2025. Is there enough wood that will last a long enough time in hundreds of years to come if we continue to cut it down at the same pace in the Amazon?

  4. Steps to recovery • When did countries start to take steps to prevent deforestation and recover forests that were hurt? The People’s Republic of China where deforestation has been a major problem their government in the past has required every citizen that is able-bodied between the age of eleven and sixty to plant three to five trees a year or do forest community work equivalent to that. Also El Salvador expanded more than twenty percent between nineteen ninety two and two thousand and one.

  5. Remaining Forests • How much of the Amazon Rain Forest remains compared to before deforestation started to happen? • More than 200 football fields long is how much the Amazon has been deforested. About twenty percent of the forest has been cut down.

  6. U.S and Deforestation • Is the U.S one of the top countries that deforests at a high pace? • The U.S has always been a major country who contributes to deforestation since the pilgrims arrive to North America up until today’s world. In 2010 we led the world in deforestation.

  7. The End • Thank you for watching my PowerPoint presentation!
