Klimaat voor Ruimte, Ruimte voor Klimaat • Het klimaatvraagstuk wordt (mede)ordenend voor de toekomstige (her)inrichting van Nederland en Europa • Hoge mate van synergie en integratie is nodig om klimaatdimensie van verschillende beleidslijnen en maatschappelijke segmenten te kunnen realiseren • Klimaat- kennisinfrastructuur in Nederland: goed op onderdelen, maar grotendeels sectoraal gericht, versnipperd en niet slagvaardig

Klimaatvoor Ruimte, Ruimte voor Klimaat • Inrichting van een geïntegreerd observatiesysteem voor land, lucht en zee(kust): Nederland gidsland? • Internationale inbedding klimaatvraagstuk geeft een belangrijke voorsprong • Van de beoogde integrale benadering van het klimaatprobleem gaat een belangrijke technologische en infrastructurele impuls uit: kansrijke kruis-bestuivingen met private sector

Klimaat voor Ruimte, Ruimte voor Klimaat • Zowel op het gebied van mitigatie als adaptatie is een investeringsimpuls noodzakelijk wil men de doelstellingen van het klimaatbeleid op zowel korte (2008-2012) als lange termijn (2050) bereiken. • Mitigatie: Korte termijn 6% emissie reductie (50 Mton C eq tov 1990) te bereiken in 2008-2012; Lange termijn: 80% emissie reductie in 2050? • Adaptatie: Anders omgaan met klimaatrisico’s in landgebruik & waterbeheer: een paradigma verandering is noodzakelijk

Klimaat voor Ruimte, Ruimte voor Klimaat * Soms is technisch/infrastructureel heel wat mogelijk, om de gevolgen van klimaatverandering te beperken: MAAR:* De kost gaat voor de baat uit, * Het is moeilijk draagvlak te krijgen voor maatregelen die pas effect hebben in de toekomst, * Ruimte is schaars. DUS:* Wil men de ambitieuze doelstellingen van het Nederlandse klimaatbeleid bereiken,zal ersociaal draagvlakgecreëerd moeten worden bij de private sector, regionale overheid en maatschapppij, dmv dialoog en investering in educatie.
