WISER Social Sciences: Electronic Resources • Accessing e-resources • On campus: • Just click the link to the resource, or use ATHENS password as required • Off campus: • ATHENS password, or connect to Oxford network (Departmental server, college server, or VPN) • OxLIP is the access point in each case: http://www.bodley.ox.ac.uk/oxlip/

WISER Social Sciences: Electronic Resources • Searching IBSS: • Basic search • Search by keyword and/ or author • Limit to latest updates, to records that include abstracts, or by publication date • Advanced search • Search by keyword, author, title or journal • Truncation (use $), wildcards (use ?) and Boolean searching • More limits available – full-text, language, publication type and subject subset

WISER Social Sciences: Electronic Resources • Working with your search results: • From any individual record: • View the complete reference or abstract • Access full-text article (if available) • Find citing articles (works better for older articles) • Combine searches to narrow down results • Results Manager: • select and format records • display on screen; print; email; save; or export to reference management software (e.g. EndNote)

WISER Social Sciences: Electronic Resources • Working with your search results: • Use the tabs to view results by type, or click the ‘+’ to see results broken down by database • From any individual record: • check electronic and print availability in Oxford • view the complete reference, including abstract • run a new search using one or more of the article descriptors • Search tools: • Combine searches • Search history • Alerts • Outputting your results: • sort by date or relevance • select results to save, print or email • results can be imported into reference management software
