Faculty-Librarian Partnership: A Collaborative Initiative at AUI • Over the past years, a team of librarians and Center for Academic Development (CAD) faculty members have been involved in a collaborative project aiming at enhancing the CAD students’ information literacy skills. This collaboration has been considered as a strategic priority for the library to promote not only its role as a learning center, but also to forge an effective library and CAD partnership. The following presentation will address the needs of this collaborative partnership and how it contributes to the development of AUI students’ learning achievement. The purpose of the Center for Academic Development (CAD) is to help students improve the quality of their study and learning, with a view to enabling them to maximize their own potential and to make efficient use of the resources offered by the University. In CAD courses, students learn research and study skills, approaches to problem solving, critical thinking, and group interaction skills.

Goals and objectives • Date : Collaboration Begins – August 2005 • To promote the role of the Library as a learning center • To forge an effective library and CAD partnership. • To enhance students learning and research, and help them develop their information competencies. • To equip AUI students for lifelong learning in an evolving information universe.

  8. Workshop Details • 6-computer instruction rooms • Standardized content • Handout and online materials • Active learning exercises • 1 hour of instruction • Our library instructional committee: 6 librarians

  12. Challenges • Assessing the impact of Information Literacy program on AUI students’ learning and achievement • Extending the experience to the rest of AUI schools • Not all AUI Faculty are willing to incorporate IL objectives into classroom.
