  4. Smelting Byproducts • Blast furnace slag • considered harmless • used in other products • off site disposal • Blast furnace stack • dust containing lead • Stored on site • recycling • disposal

  5. Past Practices • Blast furnace slag • may have been dumped in Smileyville river • dispersed around site • left in piles on site • Blast furnace stack • dust may not have been captured • captured dust may be disposed of on site
