  2. Adjective • An adjective is a word used to modify a noun or a pronoun. It is a cold day The black cat ran across the busy street.

Adjectives: articles and proper adjectives • The words a, an, and themake up a special group of adjectives called articles. • A and anare called indefinite articles because they refer to one of a general group ofpeople, places, things, or ideas. • Use abefore words beginning with a consonant sound, and use anbefore words beginning with a vowel sound.
