This project proposal from iGEM 2011 at Wageningen UR focuses on investigating the diffusion of signals in the filamentous fungal organism Aspergillus nidulans. The primary aim is to track the diffusion of a fluorescent signal (eGFP) through hyphae and to understand the processes behind signal production and carrier buildup. Through different proposed mechanisms, including the use of the GAL4 system to tune and regulate the signaling processes, the project seeks to lay foundational knowledge on fungal biology and synthetic biology applications. It presents both challenges and opportunities for advancing research in eukaryotic systems.
