How and when Tier II • Tier II’s are due to the SERC, LEPC and Local Fire Department by March 1, annually. • Tier II’s reported through CDX on EPA website • New chemicals must be reported within 60 days of arrival on site; above thresholds • 10,000 lbs of Hazardous, 25,000 lbs of any materials; any amount of Extremely Hazardous Materials

  8. Chemicals are not required to be reported if added to foods Items like Sodium Nitrite need to be listed as they are major health hazards if container compromised Food additives

  9. Easier of the two Most facilities don’t change greatly Beware of new chemicals onsite Check changes in location of chemicals and containers Good practice to send MSDS’s, updated map Always a good practice to have LEPC tour facility

Know location of containers; types Largest amount Percentages Mixtures or pure Number of days on site Greatest quantity How to convert to different units of measure if needed Containers are labeled MSDS is generally big help With batteries, some companies will do the math for you.   13. Form R-Oh My. Due July 1, annually, submitted online through CDX. Sign up CDX early!!! Discloses type of chemical, form of chemical, if by product, manufacture or processing agent Discloses method of treatment Discloses preventative/reduction methods

  14. Calculations Use only data you have!!!! Have someone else verify you calculations Look at the end result and compare it to years past, does it make sense? Do you have new data that will add more to the calculations? Were you no longer required to collect data?

  15. What if it is percentages? • Your still required to calculate, if you know it was generated, purchased or otherwise used, then disposed. • Some calculations are prompted with Form R software, such as Ammonia, in aqueous state.
