  6. Educational Environments Excellent Curricula and Educational Environments – School of Electrical Engineering (EE) covers semiconductor, communication, computer system, robot, and other electronic application systems which are the core IT technologies. – School of Computer Science (CS) research and education are actively conducted in the areas of AI, Computer vision, computer networks, distributed and parallel systems, and embedded systems which are vital elements of Korean economy.

  7. Educational Environments • ABEEK (Accreditation Board for Engineering Education of Korea) Program • Schools of EECS have introduced the ABEEK program from year 2005 to satisfy the new standard in the international engineering education. - ABEEK has strict requirements and evaluation processes in the educational program.

  8. Laboratory Environments of EE • Highly advanced educational laboratories are established at the School of EE through various assistance program funded by the government. Students can perform their experiments anytime using state-of-the-art equipments at the laboratories including the Multimedia Laboratory and the MDS Laboratory.

  9. Laboratory Environments of CS • Programming-exercise Laboratories and Team-project Laboratories are established and equipped with best programming tools. Furthermore, the environments are still being improved with the aid of several government projects such as the NEXT (Nurturing EXcellent engineers in information Technology) and the Assistance Program for IT Curriculum Exchange.

  10. Professional Government and Industry Education Facilities • Several professional design and education facilities are funded by the government and industry; they provide expert-level education. It approves the college’s fame as a leading engineering institute. ■ TI DSP Laboratory ■ Agilent Laboratory ■ Semiconductor Design and Education Laboratory (IDEC) ■ Infineon Laboratory

  11. Computer Engineering Embedded Systems Laboratory • Embedded Systems Laboratory equipped with PXA255-Pro3, Tynux embedded system development board and PCs are open with the aid of Basic Research Projects of the Ministry of Science and Technology

  12. Seminar in Special Topics • This is a small group seminar unique to Kookmin University. Through close communication among a professor and students, motivation and curiosity for science are elevated. It cultivates practical experience in the following areas. ■ Presentation skill ■ Teamwork and leadership ■ Specialized engineering skill

  13. Faculties are performing world-class research • research fund during Jan.2003-June 2006 reached 9 million USD. These research projects have provided lots of benefits for students -- chances of professional experience, scholarship, employment and advanced education

  14. BK (Brain Korea 21) Project BK 21 is a project from the Ministry of Education to improve the graduate school system. Two teams from the college are joining the project now. It brings great help in research and many graduate students of the college are recipients. ■ BcN-SoC Research & Education Team ■ Next Generation RFID Research & Education Team

  15. Samsung Electro-Mechanics Power Electronics Research Center • Samsung Electro-Mechanics founded research center at the college to collaborate with the researchers of the college of EECS in the area of display circuit and electric vehicle. Samsung uses this research center as an advanced base for the development of new products. Research facilities and scholarship are provided by Samsung.

  16. RF Shower Development: Leading Basic Research Sponsored by the MIC • The Ministry of Information and Communication considered the RF Shower System as one of the key IT technologies and designated the College of EECS to lead the project; it is to expand the recognition distance of RFID. About 7 million US dollars are funded for this project.

  17. Field Practice Certified by Ministry of Commerce, Industry and Energy • Junior or senior students can take the field practice during summer vacation at several companies that our college has set up agreements with. Students can experience field technologies and development processes while earning credits at the same time.

  18. Partners of the College of EECS • Korean Government (Ministry of Science and Technology, Ministry of Education, Ministry of Information and Communication), City of Seoul, ETRI, KETI, SK Telecom, KT, Samsung Electronics, Samsung SDI, Samsung Electro-Mechanics and many other renowned enterprises collaborate with our college in opening the era of IT Korea.

  19. NEXT projects from the MIC in three tracks • NEXT (Nurturing EXcellent engineers in information Technology) is a project executed by the Ministry of Information and Communication (MIC) to increase the educational competence in IT area. Three teams from the college are selected to participate in the project. This program has been a great contribution to the curricula and experimental environments. ■ RFID/USN track ■ C-SoC track ■ Embedded Software track
