Educational Background • Shockingly True Facts! • Minimal training in the field of Education • Bachelor’s Degree in Telecommunication Production (December 2002) • Master’s Degree in Educational Technology (Pending August 2007) • Result of suggestion by a elementary school principal • I prefer to consider myself a technologist instead of an educator

  3. Personal Thoughtsfor this Course • Educators are people too! • I am NOT better than you! • I make mistakes • Let me know if I do so (tactfully if possible) • Provide evidence to support the correct answer, and help us ALL Learn from our mistakes together!

Teaching and Learning Styles • I will do my best to offer learning in all three of the primary styles of presentation. • As both an educator and a learner, I favor the use the following styles: • Tactile/Kinesthetic • Visual • I will utilize the following resources: • The Internet • Movies • Graphical Imagery • Hands on Creation Techniques (if applicable) • Podcasting

The Real Me • I am a BIG KID! • I LOVE technology, toys, computers, cartoons, and video games. • I avoid taking anything too seriously. • Doing otherwise can detract from a pleasant life experience. • I am a techno-band geek. • I played the Tuba in several UF ensembles. • I have worked at UF as a computer tech in the departments of Business, Physics and Orthopaedics (7+ years of experience)

  7. The Real Me:The Internet is Bliss • The Internet captivates me more than any other technology. • I have been online since Spring 1995. • I remember when web pages had no images! • The Internet offers nearly limitless potential for: • Entertainment • Productivity • Education

  8. My Technological Experience • Highly Interested in Web Design • Self-taught XHTML, HTML, and CSS • Use Standard’s Compliant coding techniques for site creation. • Self-taught graphic imagery skills • Created own personal website in February 2001. + = TransBat.Com

  9. Main Interests and Favorite Technologies • Podcasting • Free and Open Source Software (FOSS): Just as good, and often better, than commercial software. • Mozilla Firefox and Thunderbird • OpenOffice.org • Ubuntu Linux

  10. Final Thoughts • Find something you are passionate about, and pursue it with all of your talents. • Make any and all assignments relevant to your career and your passions in life. • Following these two suggestions will make this course that much meaningful to your education.
