  4. Susie Atkins • Follower of Charles Manson. • Brutally killed actress Sharon Tate. • Accessory to more killings done by “The Family”.

  5. Charles “Tex” Watson • Former Member of “The Family”. • Accomplice in The Murder of Sharon Tate, Steven Parent, Abigail Folger, Wojciech Frykowski

  6. Leslie Van Houten • She participated in the LaBainca murderous raid.

  7. Patricia Krenwinkel • Krenkwinkel participated in the murders at the Tate and LaBianca residences.

  8. Linda Kasabian • Star witness for the prosecution • Witness the Tate murder and was at the scene of the LaBianca murder but did not leave the car.

Look out helter skelter helter skelter” • Manson believed that the song told him to take control. The words Helter Skelter were a code to Manson fromthe Beatles

Sexy Sadie you'll get yours yet. However big you think you are.” • Manson thought that the Sadie in the song was Susan “Sadie” Atkins. He claimed she was to rise to power with him

  13. Sharon Tate • Young Actress brutally murdered by followers of Charles Manson. • 8 ½ months Pregnant when killed. • Stabbed28 times

  14. Roman Polanski • Husband of Sharon Tate. Also a famous film director. Now resides in France due to legal problems in the us.

  15. Terry Melcher Terry Melcher • Producer and song writer. • Owned The house that Sharon Tate was Brutally Murdered. • Produced Charles Manson’s songs. Not for long though

Trial • Began in June 15, 1970 • Manson, Atkins, and Krenwinkel were charged with seven counts of murder and one of conspiracy. • The Family members defense was that they are clinically insane or was during the murders because they took LSD • Being the main witness Kasabian was granted immunity. • Manson acted as his own lawyer.

  17. Susan Atkins • 22yrs old convicted of 1st degree murder. • Sentenced to life in prison. • No likelihood of parole.

  18. Leslie Van Houten • Van Houten’s conviction was overturned because of a mistrial from the disappreance of her lawyer Hughe’s. • Jury could not convict her in the retrial. • Convicted a third time in 1978 for first degree murder.

  19. Patricia Krenwinkel • Sentenced to life in prison. • Becomes a model prisoner.

  20. Tex Watson • Tried separately from the Family. • Convicted of first degree murder.

  21. President Nixon’sInvolvement • Announced on live television that Charles Manson Was Guilty. • Case almost dismissed • The American people criticized him.
