Risk ManagementDuty to: • Supervise (buses, locker rooms, away contests with multiple teams present) • Properly Instruct • Warn of Inherent Dangers of Sport (review informed consent form) • Provide a Safe Environment (inspect your court, field, surroundings) • Provide Health Care (FA/CPR, 911, trainer) • Teach & Enforce Rules and Regulations (read & reinforce your codes & policies, warn students about improper use of social media) • Safely Group Participants (match by size, age & ability) • Follow Due Process (communicate with building admin & parents whenever significant discipline is involved). Document-Document-Document • Plan • Keep Records • Report – Not investigate (knowledge of physical abuse or sexual misconduct, HIB)

Remember You Are An Educator • Teach/Display Sportsmanship – Greet Officials and Opposing Coaches/Teams • No Ejections • Watch Your Language • Dress Appropriately • Appropriate Conversations & Jokes • Praise Publicly/Correct Privately (avoid intimidation/sarcasm in your coaching) • Hold Yourself/Staff/Team Accountable to Standards & Expectations • Know & Understand the Rules of Your Sport (league & state guidelines) • Teach Life Lessons • HONOR THE GAME!

  9. Always Be Professional • With Print Media, Radio, TV – Do not speak disparagingly about refs/opponents • With Phone Calls • With Emails • With Social Media • With Personnel – Athletes, Colleagues, Parents, Staff • Assume Everything is Public Record!
