  3. Level I 60h Two mandatory courses and few optional courses. Organized by the Finnish Basketball Association. Mandatory courses (45h) • Coaching basketball basics 1, 15h • Coaching basketball basics 2, 30h Optional courses (min. 15h) • Responsibilities as an educator, 15h, • Coaching kids under 8, 15h • Basketball referee course, 10h • Any level 1 course organized by the National Sport Federation, 6-15h www.koris.net

  4. Level II 100h Two mandatory courses and two options for orientation. Organized by the Finnish Basketball Association in cooperation with the Finnish Sport Federation and the Finnish Sports institutes. Mandatory courses (48h) • Physical training and other supportive coaching, 32h • Practical session under mentor, 16h a) Basketball instructor, coaching children and youth Mandatory courses • Basketball instructor, 32h Optional courses • National basketball referee course, 20h • Clinics organized by the Finnish Basketball Association, National Sport Federation or other Federations, 30-50h b) Basketball Coach, top level basketball Mandatory courses • Coaching basketball, 32h, SKL Optional courses • National basketball referee course, 20h • Any level 2 course organized by the National Sports Federation, 30-50h • Clinics organized by the Basketball Federation, 6-30h www.koris.net

Coaches license system • Goal: FIBA Approved Coach • National team coach requirement from 1.1.2007 • Suggestion: by 2010 • International license (FIBA Approved Coach) • Right to coach national teams • Level IV education • Attending at least once a year in an international coaching clinic • Making a report at least once in two years to an annual report by the Finnish Association for Basketball Coaches • National license • right to coach on national level and to be an assistant coach in national team and to work as an director of coaching in a club • Level III education • Attending an international coaching clinic at least once in two years • Youth coach license • Right to coach youth on national level • Level II education • Attending a coaching clinic at least once in two years www.koris.net
