FSU’s NewProgram in Interdisciplinary Computing Working to raise the level of computer competence across all disciplines at FSU by: • Designing new computing and technology courses that address discipline-specific needs. • Enabling existing computing and technology courses to be opened up to non-majors. • Assisting teachers in injecting technology concepts and content into existing courses.

Why consider technology-based exercises in non-tech courses? • Provides access to subject-related materials from numerous sources • Opens opportunities for information sharing • Brings relevance to subject matter • Engages students in subject matter through different media • Sharpens tech skills making students more marketable • Allows students to innovate!

  13. Social Bookmarking • Social bookmarking sites like delicious.com are designed for collecting and sharing Web content. • Web content is tagged and kept private or shared.

  16. Podcast • An audio (or video) broadcast distributed over the Internet using RSS. • Examples: iTunes Store

  18. Developing a Script • A script serves several purposes: • Allows for a smooth, unfaltering delivery of the dialogue • Provides a teacher with a way in which to grade content, provide feedback, check against turnitin.com • Provides a text alternative for deaf and hearing-impaired individuals

  19. Recording • Dialogue can be recorded one phrase at a time with retakes as needed. • Multi-track recording allows you to layer music and sound effects under the dialogue.
