Expectations: • Reading should be SILENT! • No Electronics! • If I have to redirect you more than once, automatic demerit • DO NOW-Pt. 1: • GOAL TIME—12-15 minutes • Take out Reading Log • Take out Take Home Quiz homework • READ pages 30-33 of The Giver • Add RTs that you didn’t get a chance to (think about the questions you asked during discussion) • Fill in the T-Chart. I KNOW there is so much we’ve talked about that you might have forgot to add.

  4. When looking at dynamic and static characters: - We are not talking about moods, attitudes, or appearance - Dynamic Characters change AS A PERSON by the end of the text. Example: If a character was selfish in the beginning, he or she will learn to be more generous by the end -Static Characters won’t change AS A PERSON by the end of the text. Example: A character who is selfish in the beginning will still be selfish at the end

  5. How can we track character changes in fantasy fiction, thinking about what we’ve learned? - PLOT SUMMARIES! Plot summaries have all the major events that happens in the story with the character and how that character reacted to each event.
