In order to maintain a safe and welcoming environment for reading, learning, and other Library activities, UMS requires all students comply with the following rules and expectations:
Library Rules and Expectations • Bring your planner with your name on it and leave the planner on the counter when in the Library. • Make sure your planner is signed before leaving the Library. • Speak quietly so that you don’t disturb your peers. Voice Level should be kept at a 1 (Whisper).
Library Rules and Expectations • Be respectful and considerate of everyone in the library (staff and students). • Use sign-out sheet when leaving the library for the office, bathroom, or a drink. • No Food or Drink allowed in the Library.
Library Rules and Expectations • Ask for help if you can’t find what you want. • Treat the books, computers, and other materials with care. • Natural wear and tear is expected. • Return Books on time. • You can check out up to four books at a time
Effective November 1st, 2013,If students have Overdue books, lost books, and/or have misused a book… • Student will not be admitted to library or tech lab until fine is paid. • Student will lose off-campus privileges until fine is paid.
Fines • Overdue Books • Books will be fined a nickel a day. • Student can choose how to pay fines: • Money • Can of food for food pantry (1 can = $1.00) • Chores: could include dusting shelves in library, etc. (1 hour = $1) • Lost Books • Pay for replacement copy. • Care of Books • Fine will be determined if book is misused.
