  1. How to Properly Type a Memorandum (MEMO) What is a memorandum or memo? A memorandum is a brief informal note written to someone within the sameorganization.

Memo Format: 2” margin on top and 1” on all sides ALL KEYWORDS (TO, FROM, DATE, SUBJECT) are in all CAPS followed by a colon: A 1” left tab is set for all text in the keyword area so it lines up, or press enough tab keys so everything lines up at the 1” mark Double Space between keyword areas. 3 Returns after subject line Paragraph text is single-spaced. 2 Returns after text and then add reference initials (either all CAPS or all lowercase, not both) If needed, put Enc. Or Encs. directly below the reference initials.

  3. Open your books to page 56 in your textbook and type the memo.
