  1. Sunil Gavaskar Opens Up On Where Shubman Gill Went Wrong In IPL 2021 Shubman Gill is considered as one of the best young talents of India who has the ability to go big in future. However, he has already impressed everyone – be it in domestic circuit or after donning the national team’s jersey. As far as his last IPL is concerned, he smashed 440 runs in the UAE. He then maintained his form to Australia and impressed with the bat as he was promoted up in the batting order especially after Prithvi Shaw’s poor show. However, this year he looked blurred and his form has dropped a little bit too. Image source by twitter He has failed to score a half-century in this year’s IPL which has now postponed. His scores for the season read: 0, 15, 33, 21, 0, 11, 9 and 43. But, one of the stalwarts of the game as well as former India captain Sunil Gavaskar has recently pointed out where the youngster went wrong and failed to trouble the bowlers. “I think what I feel about Shubman Gill is that suddenly, the pressure of expectation is getting to him. Before this, it was different. He was just a young promising newcomer, but now with the performances in Australia, the expectation is that he is going to score, and maybe that pressure of expectation is weighing him down,” Gavaskar said on Star Sports.

  2. “He just needs to relax. He is just a 21-year-old kid. There will be failures and he has to learn from those failures. He’s just got to open and play freely, without worrying about expectations. The runs will come if he plays his natural game. Trying to play across the line and trying to score off every delivery because of the pressure of expectation, he’s actually getting himself out,” Gavaskar further added. His technique against the world class bowlers like Pat Cummins and Josh Hazlewood was brilliant too. He had a nice swing of the bat and also found gaps inside the ‘V’ region effortlessly. But in this year’s IPL, he just failed to do it. Despite getting some good starts, he couldn’t convert those into a big score and those performances coming from a talented player like him was indeed disappointing. Those not only affected his scores but also slowed down the team’s total too this season.
