  2. What is strep throat • Strep throat is a bacterial infection in which the tonsils get enflamed, causing a severe sore throat

  3. Symptoms of strep throat • Sudden very sore throat • Temperature of over 101 degrees Fahrenheit • Pain when you swallow • Swollen tonsils and lymph nodes • White or yellow spots on the back of you throat • Throat bright red

  4. How to treat strep throat • It will usually go away in three to seven days with or without any treatment • Doctors can treat it with antibiotics • Some antibiotics would be penicillin and amoxicillin

Facts about strep throat • Is contagious • The best way to prevent strep throat is to avoid contact with someone who has it • Most common in children and adolescents but can be in adults too • If you leave a strep throat untreated it can turn into a rare but serious condition called rheumatic fever

  6. What causes strep throat • It is actually caused by streptococcus bacteria which is the most common cause of most throat infections
