  4. Genesis in ‘70’s • Established in 1984 • Voluntary organization focused on spectrum management issues • Membership represents a cross section of the telecom industry • Provides a forum for discussion and resolution of problems of common interest to the coordination community

  5. NSMA’s Key Objectives: • Develop technical and procedural recommendations • Provide a linkage between government regulations and industry practice • Proactively advise regulatory bodies on matters affecting radio frequency spectrum policy

  6. The NSMA develops and publishes Recommendations and Reports • Recommendations are developed in Working Groups and are approved by a 15 member Board of Directors • Over 60 recommendations and reports have been issued

  7. General meetings held 3 times each year • Interacts with the FCC and standards bodies such as the TIA • Take positions in regulatory arenas
