Description of Marseille. Marseille is a big city, it is the second largest city of France. There are 840 000 inhabitants in this city that measures 240km². It was built in 600 B.C. It is situated on the South East of France in Bouche-Du-Rhône. Massif and sea of Marseille.

  1. Description of Marseille Marseille is a big city, it is the second largest city of France. There are 840 000 inhabitants in this city that measures 240km². It was built in 600 B.C. It is situated on the South East of France in Bouche-Du-Rhône.

  2. Massif and sea of Marseille It is bordered by the Mediterranean sea in the west and it is crossed by a river called Huveaune. In the North Marseille, is enclosed by the massif of the Estaque .In the East there are the Massif of the Etoile and the Garlaban.

  3. The weather in Marseille This winter it was snowing for the first time since many years. Over the summer it's very hot .It is cold in winter

  5. FOOTBALL • In marseille there are a lot of things to do . • For example one can go to the stadium watch a game.

  6. In Marseille, one can visit the Vieux port and Notre dame de la garde.

  7. NIGHT LIFE • People who like going out at night can go to clubs or have a drink in a bar in the city center.

  8. PHYSICAL ACTIVITY • For those who like playing football there is a stadium • For those who like swimming there are swimming pools.

  9. SHOPPING • If you like shopping there are shopping centres.For example Centre Bourse,Grand V,Grand littoral and Printemps.

  11. Vieux port This is the old port of Marseille and its coast. There are lots of visitors during the holidays in Marseille.

  12. Notre Dame de la Garde This is Notre Dame de la Garde, an old monument of Marseille. Lots of tourist come to see Notre Dame de la Garde because it is the most popular monument of Marseille.

  13. La Criée For those who like watching theatre plays there are big theatres where comedian plays comedies exemple: la Criée.

  14. The Tree of Hope This is the tree of hope, each branch of this tree represents somebody in Marseille. Next to this tree there are the names of all citizens of Marseille who were registered.

  16. MARSEILLE TEAM • Olympic of Marseille, a hundred-year-old club, is the symbolic club of US Marseille Endoume Catalans and Consulat Marseille which both evolve in CFA2 (5th division). The feminine football is represented by Celtic Marseile.

  17. THE VELODROME (Stadium)‏ • The stade (stadium) Velodrome is a sports ground mainly intended today for team sports. It is the second biggest French stadium after the “Stade de France”. It is situated in the south districts of the city of Marseille, on the boulevard Michelet .It welcomes mainly international rugby matches and football matches, among which those of the Olympic of Marseille. Concerts are also organized there. It is the property of the city of Marseille.

  18. THE PALACE OF THE ICE AND GLIDING • Marseilles began the construction of the palace of the Ice and gliding which will be operational the first quarter of 2009. It costs 45 million euro,it will be the biggest of this type on the national level.It will contain a surface of buildings of 20700 m² from which 3200 m² tracks of ice (the Olympic ice rink can receive 5600 spectators),3300m² for a skate park (skate park for rollers ,skates boards and BMX),1200 parking spaces.

The Pétanque (game of bowls) in MARSEILLE • World « La Mondiale de Pétanque à Marseille » is an annual game of bowls competition organized by the newspaper «La Marseillaise ».This competition of petanque, created in 1962 by Paul RICARD takes place on the first weekend of july .The tournament is ,except for official competions,the most prestigious tournament at the world level.
