The Retell RopeTASKS • Choose one of the stories to watch on the computer. • With a partner, make your own retell rope to help you remember important elements of the story (Characters, Setting, Problem, Beginning, Important Events, and Ending). • Using the knots on your rope to help you remember the story, write down your retell of the story.

  3. Decide which of these books you would like to read. Then choose from the following slides.

  8. KNOTS ON YOUR ROPE CHARACTERS (WHO THE STORY IS ABOUT) SETTING (WHERE THE STORY TAKES PLACE) PROBLEM (WHAT IS THE MAIN PROBLEM?) EVENT (WHAT HAPPENED FIRST?) EVENT (WHAT HAPPENED NEXT?) EVENT (WHAT HAPPENED NEXT?) ENDING (HOW DID THE STORY END OR HOW WAS THE PROBLEM SOLVED?)

  9. AFTER WATCHING THE STORY: • Make your own Retell Rope. • Practice retelling the story with your partner. • Retell the story to someone else. • Listen to another story on your own. Try retelling that story to another person. • WRITE down your retell of the story you chose.
