  2. understand that there is not just one "scientific method." A student want to watch television. He picks up the remote and pushes the “on” button, but nothing happens. What steps can he do to figure out why the TV won’t turn on? The student can’t figure out why the TV won’t turn on. He calls a TV repair man. 3. understand that there is not just one "scientific method." A student’s family is looking into getting a pool installed. They are considering both freshwater and salt water pools. The student wants to help the family by considering energy efficiency. She wants to know “Does the sun heat salt water and fresh water at the same rate?” What steps can she take to answer her question?

  4. understand that there is not just one "scientific method." A student is playing basketball in gym. He notices that some basketballs bounce higher than others. He wonders if it has to do with the gas pressure inside the basketball. What steps can be taken to answer his question, “How does gas pressure inside a basketball affect how high the ball  bounces?”

  5. understand that there is not just one "scientific method." A student notices that some people do not wash their vegetables if they come prepackaged because they assume it is clean. How can a student find out if they are “clean” or not. What steps can the student take to figure out the answer to his question.

  6. understand that there is not just one "scientific method." A student plants 4 tomato plants and notices that one plant is growing much more slowly that the others. This make the student think, “ I wonder what would help tomato plants grow” What steps can the student take to figure out the answer to her question.
