FP7 and SRAs • FP7 Specific Programme “Cooperation” (SP): • shall invest > € 30 bn over 7 years • contains 10 Themes of targeted research • each Theme will be implemented by a distinct Work Programme (WP) • SRAs: • define the long-term research priorities for the ETP • can be relevant for one or more Themes

Methodology • Coverage analysis: • Step 1: map correspondence of the research priorities of the SRA with those of the corresponding FP7 Theme(s): • in the SP • in the WP • Step 2: analyse the extent to which these SRA research priorities are covered: • by each Theme of the SP • by each thematic WP  Qualitative analysis (not budgetary coverage analysis)

  5. Coverage of SRAs in therelevant SP Themes SP Themes: 1 3 7 SRAs: Non-R&D (e.g. regulatory) R&D relevant to Theme 1 R&D relevant to Theme 3 R&D relevant to Theme 7 [Non-FP7 R&D]  Coverage: “Full” “Broad” “Limited”

  6. Coverage of SRAs in thethematic WPs • Analysis based on priorities in the first FP7 WPs • WPs cover a limited period (1-2 years) • Coverage in the WPs • significant coverage (on-going analysis) • expected to be extended through future WPs

  7. Next steps • Calls expected to be published end 2006 • for half of the ETPs, SRAs are covered by more than one Theme • opportunities exist also under other SPs • Regular update of this analysis • Analysis is also input for future WP revisions
