Making Backups Before Migrating to a New OS • Backup – copying files from a computer system to another medium, such as tape, DVD, another hard drive, or a removable drive • Most operating systems have a backup utility • Consider this when backing up your information: • Close all open windows and save files • Make sure you have the software to restore the backups under both the new and old OS • Make sure you make a full backup of the system Guide to Operating Systems, 5th Edition
