  2. Who Are Fellows? • The Fellow designation is reserved for individuals who have made significant contributions to the field of contracting and to the NCMA. • Fellow is NCMA’s third highest honor! Your member has achieved this high distinction. Now what…?

  3. Why are Fellows Special?They are the Most Accomplished Members! • Academic and Professional Training • Work Experience In Contracting or Acquisition • Management Position In Contracting or Acquisition • Chapter Service • Membership • Chapter Attendance • National Service

Why are Fellows Special?They are the Most Accomplished Members! • Professional Publications • Chapter Educational Events Volunteer or Speaker • National Conference Volunteer or Speaker • Other Conference Speaker (e.g. Institute of Supply Management (ISM), National Grants Management Assn. (NGMA), etc.) • Teaching Contracting or Acquisition • National Awards and Recognitions

What Do Fellows Do?Fellows Charge! • Continue support in a leadership role for NCMA and the contract management profession; • Participate as a member of the Council of Fellows and as an active member of your local chapter; • Contribute to efforts to enhance and expand the professional acceptance of NCMA membership and certification; • Mentor new NCMA leaders.

  6. How to Utilize the Chapter’s Fellows • Chapter Advisor – Fellows have much NCMA experience and can guide your leadership team. • Use them in your chapter teambuilding and program planning.

  7. How to Utilize the Chapter’s Fellows • Chapter service - Fellows are proven contributors and leaders. • Have them serve as officers, committee chairs, or volunteers. • Particularly useful in program planning. • Also useful in evaluating award nominations and scholarship applications.

  8. How to Utilize the Chapter’s Fellows • Marketing – Fellows know the profession, and are connected to the leaders in the profession. They know where the potential members are, and the value of NCMA membership. • Have them make VIP visits. • Involve them in marketing plan development.

  9. How to Utilize the Chapter’s Fellows • Mentor – Fellows have much professional experience, understand the work of the profession, and how to advance in a career. • Fellows can mentor members in their career development. • Especially useful for new members entering the career field.

  10. How to Utilize the Chapter’s Fellows • Advocate – Fellows have credibility. Use them for public awareness purposes locally, especially during CM Week.

  11. How to Utilize the Chapter’s Fellows • Publish - Fellows possess expert knowledge of contracting and acquisition, and are accomplished writers. Encourage them to write for the profession! • Write articles for chapter newsletter, CM magazine, or other periodicals. • Author a book. • Review or edit other’s writings.

  12. How to Utilize the Chapter’s Fellows • Academia – Fellows are highly respected leaders in our profession. They are highly educated. • Have them lead new university relationships for the chapter. • Mentor new student chapters. • Locate academic programs in your area.

  13. How to Utilize the Chapter’s Fellows • Teach. Encourage them to contribute in colleges/universities as well as your chapter for workshops and events. • Dinner speaker. • Workshop lecturer. • NES speaker. • National conference speaker.

  14. How to Utilize the Chapter’s Fellows • Panels – Encourage them to participate in industry/government panels and share with your chapter.

  15. How to Utilize the Chapter’s Fellows • Networking - use the Fellow to help during networking breaks by getting different “cliques” to talk to each other!

  16. How to Utilize the Chapter’s Fellows • Job connections - Fellows usually know who is moving around the local community job-wise. Use them for employment-related inquiries!

  17. How to Utilize the Chapter’s Fellows • Name a chapter award after a deserving Fellow.

  18. How to Utilize the Chapter’s Fellows • Recognize them! Nominate them for awards when deserving.
