Producer/art direction (millie) • Responsible for finding and launching a project • Plan and organise various aspects of the production. • They continue as the driving force right through to the distribution point. • They come up with storylines/find potential ideas and hire writers and overlook scripts. • They decide on scale and buget if films and also look into investors, studios and distributors. • It is the producer's job to create a good and smooth working environment. • The producer is on the front line for hiring a team of directors, actors, camera crew and the rest of the team.
director (becky) • Creative leads of the film. • Hold the creative vision during the whole process. • They start off with a script then start work with a screen writer to come up with the final draft for the screen. • It's their job to imagine the script as a visual form. • Working closely woith producers and appointing heads of depertment. • Sometimes working with the actors before actual filming to get a snese of what they are going to be like, aswell as audition actors that fit the vision. • After the filming they lead the overall editing of the film, this is called the director's cut.
Editor/continuity on the shoot (elodie) • Overall, the editor puts together/cuts the footage or production. • Usually, films are not shot in chnonilogical order therefor they could be editing the middle before the start and need to make sure they don’t get confused. • Their job it to make put small bits of footage together to make a whole outcome. • Once filming has started at the end of each day, they will check the rushes and start to piece toigether how the story will go. • Once again working closelt with the director. • Editing is mostly a post-production job meaning that all of their work comes after the filming, after they have created a director's cut with the editors, the producers over-see and this is when the final cut is made.
Camera/director of photogoraphy (fabian) • Directors of photography are responsible for the photographic heart of a production. • At the start before any filming takes place, they work closely with the director to get a feel for what the film is about. • After this they will then go on to create ideas and research how to do certain shots required and what lighting they will need and so on. • Working closely with the rest of the camera crew and technical crew they arrive early to set to set up camerras and to get a feel for the shots that are going to be taken aswell as go through those with the rest of the team. • It is their job to make sure that every shot is able to use and if they are not to make the director aware of that.
