  3. Attendance • Every member of the Marching Band is a vital part of the group. • No one can fill your spot on the field or part in the music. Each part is unique! • For this reason, it is very important to be at all rehearsals and performances! • If you must miss a rehearsal, you must fill out an absence form 24 hours in advance. Absences due to illness must have a doctor’s excuse. • You must see the director to make up material that was missed while you were absent. It is your responsibility to contact the director. Think of it as making up homework! • If you have not made up the missing material, you will lose band privileges. (3rd quarter, bus seating, meal seating)

  4. Roseville Memorial Day ParadeMonday, May 26th • All students (including Pit/SFX) will march in the parade with their band instrument. • Report to the Roseville Post Office at 10:15 a.m. You need to provide your own transportation. Students must bring their own instruments unless they play percussion or tuba. • Students need to wear their band polo, black shorts, and (black)tennis shoes. • Students who do not already have black uniform shorts may wear a pair that they already own or purchase. Remember, students will need to have shorts to wear under the band uniform. • After the parade, there is a short ceremony. Once the ceremony is over, the directors will dismiss the students. Students will be dismissed at APPROXIMATELY 11:45 a.m. • Don’t forget, the $50 band camp deposit is due by this day. Pit/SFX members’ $50 will be applied to the uniform fee.

  5. Summer Rehearsals

  6. July • Full Band Rehearsals, 5:00-9:00 p.m. • Tuesday, July 8th& Thursday, July 10th • Tuesday, July 15th& Thursday, July 17th • Mandatory Parent Meeting July 17th8:00 p.m. • Perc. & Color Guard Sectionals, 5:00-9:00 p.m. • Wednesday, July 9th& 16th • Parades • Saturday, July 12th5:00 p.m.

  7. Band CampOhio Wesleyan University, July 20th-25th • Pit/SFX does not have to attend band camp because they will not be marching in the formations in the competition show. • Band camp primarily focuses on the marching component of the competition show. • The band camp fee of $200 covers lodging, all meals, and transportation for 5 nights and 6 days. • A $50 deposit is due by the Memorial Day Parade to hold your place at band camp. • Pit/SFX members’ deposits will go towards the uniform fee. • Remainder of fee is due upon departure to band camp on July 20th.

  8. August • Full Band & Pit/SFX • Finish setting competition show on field, work on pre-game and half-time music/sets • Monday, July 28th–Friday, August 1st • Monday, August 4th–Friday, August 9th • 5:00-9:00 p.m. • Chandlersville Parade: Saturday, August 2nd • Fair Performance: Sunday, August 10th • No practice the week of the fair! • Meet the Team: Sunday, August 17th

  9. After School Rehearsals • Marching Band practices Monday, Wednesday, Thursday • Pit/SFX practices Monday & Thursday • 2:45-5:30 p.m. • No practice on Tuesdays! A great time to schedule appointments!

  10. Uniforms • Summer uniform: band polo, black uniform shorts, marching shoes, and short black socks • Marching Uniform: Band Uniform and hat, marching shoes, LONG black socks, black gloves, shorts, and black t-shirt. • Fee is $65 and covers: band polo, black uniform shorts, marching shoes, short and long black socks, black gloves, and dry cleaning. • Previous members may purchase new polos, shorts, and shoes, but must pay for socks, gloves, and dry cleaning. • Fee is due by the first day of school on August 18th.

  11. New Uniform Procedure! • ALL students must fill out a uniform form online. Even if you don’t need any new uniform pieces. • This form will ask for your sizes and measurements. It will also ask if you need new shorts, shoes, etc. • Please have this form completed by Monday, May 26th. • You may fill this form out this evening, please see Mrs. Scott. She even has tape measures! • Students may also fill it out at school. • Parents may fill it out at home. • The form can be found on www.philobands.com in the Marching Band section.

  12. Lyres & Flippies • Flippies organize and hold the music . • Lyres attach the music to the instrument. • Lyres are $5 • Flippies are $5 • Some instruments are only available as a lyre/flippy combo. • Extra pages are .50 each

  13. Money & Forms • Always give money to MRS. SCOTT! • Always give forms to MR. BRENNING!

  14. Disney Trip • November 14-18, 2014 • Students/Parents may still sign up. We still have room on the bus! • Students who are in the Marching Band are not required to travel to Disney, but it is recommended! • The Band Boosters hold frequent fund raisers that students can participate in to help with the cost of the trip. • Students/Parents must sign up online to register. • The itinerary and link to sign up can be found on www.philobands.com on the Marching Band page.
