    4. July 30, 2008 Policy Development Division Prior Notification IPP are to advise the establishment IPP are unable to conduct AM inspection without providing (if not so already): Pen cards or Drive sheets Information needed to complete Pen cards or Drive Sheet

    5. July 30, 2008 Policy Development Division Minimum Pen Card- Drive Sheet Content Date of AM Inspection Pen/Lot Number Total #head and slaughter class offered & passed AM Inspection for slaughter Time of AM Inspection IPP Signature or Initials

    6. July 30, 2008 Policy Development Division Who Performs AM? All IPP who conduct AM inspection are to successfully complete the February 2009 humane handling training module are eligible to perform AM inspection.

    7. July 30, 2008 Policy Development Division IPP Verification I (pre-AM Inspection) Periodically verify pen card or drive sheet information provided by establishment is accurate prior to completing AM Inspection. (Part III.)

    8. July 30, 2008 Policy Development Division IPP Verification II (post AM Inspection) Periodically verify only livestock passed for slaughter are slaughtered. (Part V.) Periodically verify cards match animals brought to slaughter Periodically verify pen card totals match total slaughter number (weekly)

    9. July 30, 2008 Policy Development Division Frequency of Verification Frequencies of verification are Daily Weekly Level in consultation with FLS based on plant history Randomly

    10. July 30, 2008 Policy Development Division Other IPP Responsibilities Account for #Livestock that Pass AM Inspection; Complete Pen Card or Drive Sheet ID, Control, and Accounting for Livestock that Do Not Pass AM Inspection per FSIS Directive 6100.1

    11. July 30, 2008 Policy Development Division IPP Responsibilities Segregate Livestock needing PHV examination Condemn DOAs, DIPs, NADs and Identify such animals using Red Condemned Tags and document on FSIS Form 6150-1 Identification Tag Ante Mortem

    12. July 30, 2008 Policy Development Division IPP Responsibilities Ensure pen cards or drive sheets are updated after adjustments (NADs, DOAs) Verify accuracy of Pen Card Info during and after AM inspection Take enforcement actions when warranted

    13. July 30, 2008 Policy Development Division IPP Response to AM Discrepancies When detected upon verification Request corrected pen card or drive sheet when inaccuracies prior to passing pen or lot for slaughter OR make corrections and initial change. Complete the Pen Card or Drive Sheet

    14. July 30, 2008 Policy Development Division IPP Response to Failure to Present Pen - Lot Information IPP cannot perform AM inspection and are not to pass for slaughter an individual lot or pen of livestock unless pen cards or drive sheets and needed information are provided by the establishment.

    15. July 30, 2008 Policy Development Division IPP Response to Failure to Provide Corrected Information Retain Livestock Issue 06D02 NR documenting refusal to provide corrected information and document correct number of livestock Cite 9 CFR 307.2

    16. July 30, 2008 Policy Development Division IPP Response to Post AM Discrepancies Determine cause of discrepancy enlisting establishment assistance Retain animals and parts if slaughtered animals did not receive AM inspection per FSIS Directive 6100.1

    17. July 30, 2008 Policy Development Division Recordkeeping Keep original or copy of pen cards or drive sheets Retained in FSIS Inspection Office for one week.
