  1. New link between BIS and LBDS CIBDS recap and Experience from LBDS reliability run Stéphane GabourinTE/MPE-EP MPP – 31stOctober 2014

  2. Outline • CIBDS recap • Why and How • From v1 to v2/3 • Experience from LBDS reliability run • Installation in UA63 & UA67 • Commissioning steps • CIBDS issues during the reliability runs

  3. CIBDS recap

  4. Why and How 1/3 • CIBM • CIBM A A • CIBG A B B B Courtesy E. Carlier • Fully redundant Synchronous Beam Dump Triggers (SBDT)

  5. Why and How 2/3 • CIBM • CIBM A A 12V • CIBG A B B B 12V Trigger Delay (TD): 200us Courtesy E. Carlier • Fully redundant Synchronous Beam Dump Triggers (SBDT) • Asynchronous Beam Dump Triggers (ABDT) • Issue of common 12V

  6. Why and How 3/3 • CIBDS • CIBM • CIBM A A A • CIBG A • CIBU B B B B 200us RTB 250us Courtesy E. Carlier • Add a link directly from the BIS to the retrigger lines • Connect the CIBDS as User on a CIBM to avoid spurious asynchronous beam dumps Frequency loss (A:9.375MHz / B:8.375MHz) Pulse

  7. From v1 to v2/3 v1 v2 • Updates v1 → v2: • Change the lemo connector to the CIBU • To simplify soldering • Bad for CIBU commissioning… • LED inversion, … • Updates v2 → v3: • Change polarity for the “PLC local mode” read back • Add resistors to • Protect output to the CIBU • Protect output to the TD Box • Get exactly 12V pulse for the TD Box • v3 NOT in operation as not working properly !

  8. Experience from LBDS reliability run

  9. Installation in UA63 & UA67 • Full rack for: • The BIS FEC • CIBG B1 • CIBM B1 • CIBM B2 • CIBDS B1 • The CIBU of the CIBDS • The 2 Trigger Delay boxes (+ 1 spare) • Better to have a “how to plug” patch • For optic fibers • For electrical cables

  10. Installation in UA63 & UA67

  11. Commissioning steps (Updated) commissioning steps were followed

  12. Commissioning steps (Updated) commissioning steps were followed Status view: No GUI available (for 2015) → use of Nodal

  13. Commissioning steps TSU 1-A (Updated) commissioning steps were followed Status view: No GUI available (for 2015) → use of Nodal TSU 1-B TSU 2-A • Arming sequence: • After some time, done by the sequencer, but before… • → use of Nodal TSU 2-A Arm • Quite challenging to arm and maintain both beams: • 4 TSU + 2 CIBDS + 2CIBG to arm and start manually… • All within 5 sec… • → Keep B1 and B2 independent Start

  14. Commissioning steps

  15. CIBDS issues during the reliability runs • CIBDS failures observed: • none…
