    1. Alameda County Medical Center 5th Annual Meeting January 25, 2011

    3. Alameda County Medical Center

    5. This year’s theme, A Legacy of Care, showcases the amazing history of the Alameda County Medical Center and its enduring place in this region for the past 146 years, since Fairmont Hospital’s start in 1864 and Highland Hospital’s opening in 1927. Throughout its history, ACMC has always been mission driven, dedicated to improving the health of all county residents without regard for ability to pay. In 2011, we are building for a new era of health care delivery, both in terms of new structures (Highland Satellite Building) and equipment, (angio/cardiac cath lab) as well as electronic medical record and patient care innovations. All these initiatives build on a very long tradition of caring for the entire community and training the community’s future providers to carry the legacy forward. 27. Health Care Reform Provides an unprecedented opportunity for Public Hospitals Health care reform expands access to care for 32 million Americans. It gives those of us in the public hospital industry the opportunity to continue to reinvent ourselves and leverage our key attributes. For example, many of our systems have well developed Medical Home models, which many believe will be the center piece for a better health care system for our country. Utilizing a medical home model, public hospitals will be able to rely upon the great integration we have between our doctors, hospitals and clinics – a benefit to all.
