Needed to cut back on AWIPS development tasks to provide GSD staffing for CONOPS • Development: GSD – only group with necessary experience • SREC recommends the following actions for the AWIPS tasks on Page 5 with the noted concerns and risk mitigation • Approved by SREC Voting members (unanimous) on December 4, 2006

13. SREC Recommended Updates to OB8.3 • Recommended Changes to OB8.3 • Remove Radar Acquisition Improvements (xx-xxx) • Recommendations suggested by NGIT NCF. Both problems have been resolved • NCF was tracking performance issues with the One Time Request (OTR) and Radar Multiple Request (RMR) functionality based on AWIPS sites reporting the Class 2 interface remains open when the ORPG generates a General Status Message (GSM) back to a requestor (in this case, AWIPS) but fails to recognize the request itself.  Since this problem cannot be corrected until ORPG Build 8.0, a workaround has been developed and is being employed. ORPG Build 8.0 was deployed in 2006. • Class 2 interface goes into a waiting mode when there are too many requests. RMR timing issues when more than one RMR session is submitted at the same time have been resolved.  • Approved by SREC Voting members (unanimous) on February 12, 2007

SREC Recommended Updates to OB8.3 • Proposed change to OB8.3 • Remove Port to NCEP GRIB2 Decoder (xx-xxx) • There is an NCEP/OST agreement signed in 2005 • There should be one set of GRIB2 libraries (OST) • NCEP would maintain the NWS GRIB2 libraries (NCEP) • Each organization will continue to maintain it’s drivers (OST, NCEP) • AWIPS will work with NCEP to establish a means for assessing CPU performance alternate GRIB2 formats to ensure AWIPS has the system resources to handle the decoding (OST, NCEP) • NCEP will incorporate the 2nd order differencing scheme for encoding missing data (NCEP) • If the above items have been completed, then the development and implementation of the agreement has been completed and can be removed from the OB8.3 development tasks for ASM, MDL and OHD. • Submitted for approval at the February 26, 2007 meeting
