This new post is part of the business development at the Centre as it advances further in the world of control and automation associated with fluid power systems, motion and control. • The NFPC provides an extensive range of short training courses and those leading to • BFPA/CETOP recognised qualifications. Courses involve: hydraulics, pneumatics, electronics, control and automation. • Much of the work carried out is of a bespoke nature. • The role offers an opportunity to join a team of highly motivated responsive engineers involved at every level of training and at every stage of development, from that of customer liaison, training needs analysis, course design, delivery, evaluation and formal assessments as required. The centre works with over 17 sectors of industry offering its services on a global basis and through satellite centres in the UK. • THE ROLE: • will involve centre-based work and offsite work and there will be a need to work in a flexible, pro-active manner to meet the business demands and meet customers needs but the role will offer great job satisfaction to those willing to • take on this highly demanding but exciting role at the National Centre. • The business covers industrial and mobile applications and the NFPC has one of the best-equipped practical facilities world wide. The role will involve a responsibility to develop and manage the practical facilities at the centre to support the competence-based activities and the advanced systems engineering courses involving electronics and control. • Supported by the BFPA and an Advisory Body of over 40 National and International Companies, the centre places great emphasis upon practical training and the development of skills and competence for those involved at a maintenance and management level; therefore as a Systems Training Engineer you must have a range of experienced based practical skills that you can call upon to support the delivery of the courses and the practical developments at the centre involving industrial and mobile systems. • KEY SKILLS AND KNOWLEDGE (Essentials) • Successful candidates must: • Have current knowledge of the fluid power industry ( major suppliers and associated products) • Have practical experience and knowledge at a current level involving the application of a range of PLCs • Have practical experience and knowledge at a current level involving the application of a range of digital and analogue • electronic control ( open and closed loop) • Have practical experience and knowledge at a current level involving the application of a range of Micro-controllers and Sensors associated with mobile plant operations • Have a knowledge of hydraulic and pneumatic systems and components • s The National Fluid Power Centre is CETOP Certified Education Centre.

It is necessary to have: • Application of practical skills involving, installation, commissioning, maintenance, testing, monitoring and fault diagnosis • KEY SKILLS AND KNOWLEDGE (Essentials) Continued • Current product knowledge and associated suppliers relating to electronics and associated equipment • Extensive range of computer skills and linked to control engineering • Good communication skills and able to carryout computer based presentations in PowerPoint as well as develop them accordingly. • JOB REQUIREMENTS • The post demands a high degree of flexibility covering a range of working hours and the ability to respond to business • initiatives and customer needs and will demand a high personal commitment • The ability to be an effective team member and contribute accordingly, whilst also able to work as an individual, in both • cases meeting deadlines and standards • Applicants must have their own transport as the post will involve a certain amount of travelling and site work. • KEY TASKS- Relating to this role • Participate in the business development of the National Fluid Power Centre with emphasis placed upon: • Development and delivery of courses both standard and bespoke involving electrical/electronics, electro-hydraulics. • electro-pneumatics, proportional control and PLC control interrelated to fluid power systems and control and non-fluid power applications. • Visiting customers and identifying training needs ( standard and bespoke) • Working closely with the Director in identifying new business opportunities. • Centre development in control and automation • Development of training and learning materials • Development of the practical facilities at the centre in-line with competence based training programmes • Operating and managing within the requirements of ISO 9001-2008 • Managing as required allocated budgets for key areas of development and associated project management • Developing your skills and knowledge to meet the ever-changing technology • Chairing and attending meetings and taking on departmental responsibilities. • Involvement in the provision of First Aid assistance as required. • Qualifications and Background • This role requires an industrial background in which current experience and product knowledge is vital. Qualification levels accepted are HND or Technology Based Degree. The BFPA /CETOP level 3 qualification would also compliment this post • CONTINUOUS PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT • The College has excellent facilities and offers support to enable you to continuously update your skills and qualifications. • PERSONAL DEVELOPMENT REVIEW • Personal development interviews take place annually and role descriptions are reviewed as part of this process. • This post is Exempt from the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act 1974 (Exceptions) Order 1975 (as amended in 2013) by SI 2013 1198’ and subject to an Enhanced Disclosure Barring Service check. • May 2014
