  1. Hazel Grove Car Park ProposalsOverview • Transport for Greater Manchester (TfGM) is developing plans to provide over 100 additional car parking spaces at Hazel Grove rail station. This will increase parking capacity to approximately 400 spaces. • The additional spaces will be provided by constructing a single storey decked structure above the existing car park east of Chester Road. • A formal planning application was submitted to Stockport MBC on 7th February 2014. It is anticipated that the facility would be available to passengers by winter 2014, subject to obtaining the necessary planning permission and rail industry approvals. • Over 70% of car parking spaces on the overall site will be open throughout the construction period, which will last for approximately 5 months.

  2. Safety and Security Environmental Considerations • The plans include installation of appropriate lighting and CCTV to enhance passenger safety and security within the car park. • Lighting is specifically designed to minimise light spill and direct light onto the car park rather than the surrounding area. • Improved pedestrian routes are also included in the plans to ensure safe movement across the car park. • The proposals include additional planting along the north side of the site, with trees complementing existing landscaping. • Access will be maintained to the surrounding roads at all times during construction. • The Park & Ride scheme aims to reduce vehicle congestion into the Regional Centre and connect people with employment opportunities.
