  2. Homeostasis • Maintaining a constant environment inside the body even if the conditions on the outside of the body are different.

  3. Dynamic Equilibrium • However, the body does not always maintain a constant internal environment.

  4. Negative Feedback • Allows the body to maintain equilibrium. • equilibrium = balance

  5. 3 Components of Negative Feedback • SENSOR • Senses a change in the internal environment • CONTROL CENTER • Activates the effector • EFFECTOR • Reverses the change and brings things back to normal again
