  1. Tourism in Pula Let us tell you about main characteristics of tourism in our city Prof.dr.sc. Denisa Krbec, Head

Pula: • Dominantand largest city on the Istrian peninsula. • Situated at the head of a well protected and deep bay which, since its founding, has given it the important role of being a good port and a secure anchorage. • Geographical position, located only a bit to the west of the southernmost cape of the Istrian peninsula, assigned the city in many historical periods aspecial strategic significance. Opportunities (1) • Natural Attractions: Climate • Mediterranean Climate: over 2500 sunny hours per year with the average temperature of 130 C • Main Summer Season (June-September): August with over 25 sunny days and an average of 260 C • Climate characterized by the north-eastern wind “bura” and sirocco during winter time • Sea temperature varies from 80 C in winter to 260 C in summer. Pula as you can see it in 2009 • 65000 inhabitants • Its population is getting older • Educational level is very satisfactory: 40% with secondary, 7% with high college and 8% with university education • The official languages are Croatian and Italian • Multicultural and multi-ethnic town oriented to the European way of living Prof.dr.sc. Tourism in Pula: 2009 • The accommodation capacity of Pula and its surroundings is 13.500 beds in hotels, apartments, campings and private accommodation • Capacities should satisfy higher quality demands of tourists and visitors by the amenities, arrangement of the tourist structures – including top-level services and numerous supporting facilities and activities Prof.dr.sc.
