China Scholarship Council • Affiliated to China’s Department of Education • Government sponsorship towards study overseas • Provides scholarships to students for higher education
CSC-Oxford Programme • Jointly funded, full scholarship for 4 years of doctoral study towards a DPhil (PhD) degree at the University of Oxford • Includes all fees (university and college) and a stipend (of at least £13,863 GBP per year) • Students may be eligible for a supplementary award of approx. £4,000 GBP per year • One return airfare (China-UK-China) • Number of awards: Around ~5 places at NDM, additional places in other departments
Admission Requirements • CSC’s requirements: • Chinese citizenship • Must be a student from a “211 Project University” • The applicant must not already have a PhD • After finishing their studies overseas, the student should return to China
Admission Requirements • Oxford’s requirements: • 1: Undergraduate GPA >= 3.5 • 2: English Proficiency: • TOEFL: Overall 100 • 24 (Reading), 22 (Listening), • 25(Speaking) 24 (Writing) • OR • IELTS: • Overall 7.0 • 6.5 per component
How to apply Submit the initial application (CV and cover letter) with 3 choices of DPhil projects by the deadline – 5pm GMT on 21 October 2014 First round of interviews will be in Beijing on the 5 November 2014 Shortlisted candidates to submit full applications to Oxford Second-round interviews will be conducted via Skype with the chosen Oxford PIs and a panel in December 2014
