  2. Advantages of Dual Credit classes in HS • Save money • Community college courses are less expensive • Some colleges offer ½ price to HS students (SCC, MCC) • ACE Scholarship pays for DC classes while in HS • Academy classes are paid for by high school, you only have to pay for books

Advantagesof Dual Credit classes in HS • Get ahead on credits, graduate early • Lessen course load while in college • Be better prepared for college • Live off campus sooner • Help college application stand out • Explore classes beyond HS offerings • May be easier in high school • teacher available everyday • classmates in class together

Southeast Community College Career Academy (Academy Handout) • Most of the classes are taken online using Moodle • CNA is taken at Yutan, Ashland or Wahoo or Yutan • A Career Portfolio with weekly assignments is taken at the same time as the class • Grade is 20% Career Portfolio and 80% College Class • Cost is covered by YHS except for the books • (CNA has a student fee and test fee) • Students are required to put a deposit of half the tuition to cover the cost shall the student not pass the class.

Costis the students responsibility * DC American History I & II taken at YHS with Mr. Mead • Typically transfers as a General Education Requirement * English Composition 1st semester with Mrs. Eikmeier (English IV) • Typically transfers as a General Education Requirement * Intro to Literature 2nd semester with Mrs. Eikmeier (English IV) • Typically transfers as an Elective, some Gen Eds * General Biology full year with Mr. Sass (Advanced Biology) • Typically transfers as a General Education Requirement * College Algebra full year with Mrs. Zabrocki • Typically transfers as a General Education Requirement

NEBRASKA NOW Course through UNL • College Credit (can only accept for Dual Credit if the teacher has a Nebraska Teaching Certificate) • Taken online using Moodle with other high school students and a UNL Teacher • GPA of a “B” or better and 22 ACT admissions Requirements • View & Register go to: • https://admissions.unl.edu/specialized-information/nebraska-now.aspx • Cost is $250 set fee plus a $45 admissions fee, most classes are 3 credit hours
